What You're Signing Up For

This one-year full-time or part-time programme deepens your technical skills in amenity horticulture. You will gain practical and theoretical knowledge in areas such as project leadership, plant collection management, landscape planting, turf and soil management, amenity plant care, seasonal planning, indigenous restoration, agrichemical application, and horticultural record keeping. Graduates will be equipped for professional roles in the management and care of public spaces, gardens, parks, and plant collections.

  • Project leadership within primary industry operations
  • Establishing and maintaining plant collections for parks and botanical gardens
  • Landscape planting and plant identification
  • Amenity tree and shrub care including assessment, pruning, and training
  • Soil and turf management with sustainability focus
  • Seasonal planning for amenity spaces
  • Indigenous plant community restoration and revegetation
  • Safe agrichemical application and equipment use
  • Horticultural record keeping and reporting

What you need to know first

Relevant knowledge, skills and experience gained through work experience

Discretionary entrance with demonstrated chance of success and participation in an interview if required

Ability to carry out physical/practical components of the programme

English language requirement: IELTS 5.5 (no band lower than 5.0) or equivalent if English is not your first language

May require drug screening and/or police check for some strands or components
