What You're Signing Up For

The Master of Forestry Science (MForSc) is designed to give students an advanced head start into forest management, governance, or research. Students can choose to study by examination and report, examination and thesis, or thesis only, depending on their goals and experience. The programme offers flexibility with a diverse range of courses from silviculture to IT applications in forestry. Completion options include coursework plus report, coursework plus thesis, or thesis only for those with sufficient postgraduate background. The degree can be completed full-time or part-time, and prepares graduates for professional or research-based roles in the forestry sector.

What you need to know first

Four-year Bachelor of Forestry Science, or equivalent relevant bachelor's degree, or Postgraduate Diploma in Forestry.

Approval based on the standard and relevance of previous study.

International applicants: Must meet University of Canterbury English language requirements.
