This course teaches you to operate, maintain, and sharpen a chainsaw safely. It includes a three-day practical workshop, logbook completion, and pre-course material to study. - Checking a chainsaw and its components
- Safely transporting and using chainsaw fuel
- Identifying hazards influencing chainsaw operation
- Personal protection and first aid requirements for chainsaw operators
- Starting and testing the chainsaw
- Using a chainsaw to make cuts
What you need to know first
Be at least 16 years old
NCEA Level 1 with 10 credits in Numeracy and 10 credits in Literacy OR equivalent knowledge and skills
Physically able to complete the course
