In the Culinary Arts Year 1 programme at Wintec, students develop cookery skills to prepare, cook, and present food, using complex preparation and presentation techniques. Learning takes place in real-life commercial kitchen settings, giving graduates the confidence and competence required to start a culinary career. The programme covers a wide range of practical kitchen skills, food safety, and professional kitchen operations and standards.
What you need to know first
40 credits at NCEA Level 1, including 10 literacy credits and 10 numeracy credits; OR a recognised equivalent.
A relevant course at NZQF Level 2; OR a recognised equivalent.

Applicants not meeting these criteria may apply for discretionary entrance, subject to the discretion of the relevant manager.
IELTS score of 5.5 (no band lower than 5) or equivalent (for non-native English speakers).
Selection interview may be required.
