Learners will be able to identify and apply fundamental food safety principles in food preparation settings.

Learn to recognize and prevent various types of contamination in food handling and preparation.

Gain skills in maintaining proper temperature controls to ensure food safety and compliance.
Subject to NZQA approval. The Food Safety certificate is ideal for those beginning a career in food preparation, offering comprehensive coverage of critical food safety issues, including HACCP, contamination prevention, temperature controls, and safe storage. The course meets current health and safety requirements and prepares learners for roles in hospitality and food service industries. Students benefit from online learning with regional support and optional local workshops.
What you need to know first
Must be at least 16 years old at the time the programme commences
Be able to read, write, and communicate in English at a basic level
