Obtain MNZ Skipper Fishing Vessel - Unlimited COC
Gain the knowledge and certification requirements needed to apply for the Maritime New Zealand Skipper Fishing Vessel Unlimited Certificate of Competency.

Advanced vessel management and operations skills
Develop advanced practical and theoretical skills in navigation, vessel management, and maritime legislation for senior fishing vessel command roles.

What You're Signing Up For
This qualification provides the skills required to apply for the Maritime New Zealand (MNZ) Skipper Fishing Vessel - Unlimited Certificate of Competency. Designed for those who have completed the Mate Fishing Vessel Unlimited programme and have at least 12 months' sea time on a suitable vessel, this optional strand covers key maritime operations, vessel management, legislation, and advanced on-board competencies for command roles. Training includes all necessary supplementary certificates such as STCW basic safety, advanced fire fighting, rescue boats, GMDSS Radio Operator, and medical first aid.

What you need to know first
Completion of Mate Fishing Vessel - Unlimited qualification
At least 12 months' sea-time offshore on a fishing vessel of 12m or more
NCEA Level 2 OR NZQF Level 4 qualification in a related discipline
English language proficiency: IELTS 6.0 Academic (no band lower than 5.5) for non-native English speakers, or equivalent
