It emphasizes the safe, responsible, and efficient use of agrichemicals according to New Zealand standards, with some course activities requiring on-campus attendance.

- Biology of important insect pests affecting crops and pasture
- Identification of plant diseases and weed species
- Life cycles of common pests, diseases, and weeds
- Control options for insect pests, plant diseases and weeds
- Use and management of agrichemicals according to NZS8409:1999 Code of Practice
- Recognition of signs and symptoms of pests, diseases and weeds on selected horticultural crops
- Effects of environmental factors on pest and disease development and spread
What you need to know first
Minimum average grade of C in Plant and Animal Health, BIOS-21 or BIOS-21R
