What You're Signing Up For

The Master of Environment and Society (MEnvSoc) at the University of Waikato is an interdisciplinary degree welcoming graduates from environmental sciences, social sciences, management, law, or economics. The programme features both taught papers and a dissertation or thesis and provides opportunities to engage with local communities and governments. Students build on existing skills to critically analyse different views related to environmental challenges and use their insights to address those challenges. The course enables practical research into environmental and societal inter-relationships, with scope to include papers from environmental science, law, and management, fostering connection between theory and practice. Graduates may pursue careers in policy, local government, and iwi or Waitangi Tribunal work.
