The New Zealand Diploma in Environmental Management (Level 5), Marine Strand at Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology offers immersive learning in marine and freshwater environments. Students develop an understanding of plants, invertebrates, mammals, birds, and fish within these ecosystems, complemented by courses in conservation biology, risk management, and marine surveying. The program includes practical field trips and options to specialize further in areas such as aquaculture, biosecurity, or marine tourism. What you need to know first
Minimum of 42 credits at NCEA Level 3 or equivalent (suggested subjects: English, Mathematics and Biology/Sciences) for applicants under 20 years
Special admission may apply for applicants over 20 years or those who do not meet academic requirements, subject to staff approval
Must be able to complete physical requirements of the course
For diving pathway: Provide a certified doctor's certificate of fitness to dive within two weeks of course start
