Core skills this course teaches

Apply sustainable practices in land-based primary industries
Graduates will be able to incorporate sustainability principles and best practices into current operations or new activities within land-based or community settings.

Contribute to environmental and community well-being
Graduates can demonstrate the ability to improve sustainability for the long-term benefit of their community and environment, working responsibly under limited supervision.

Initiate and undertake sustainability projects
Ability to plan and implement projects aimed at improving sustainability outcomes in land-based contexts.

This programme introduces the concepts and principles of sustainable land management and equips individuals to apply sustainability practices in primary industry settings or their own/community land. Designed for learners interested in contributing to sustainable environmental management, graduates will develop skills to implement best practices for environmental and community benefit, and be prepared for further study or employment in land-based roles.

What you need to know first
NCEA Level 1; or
A qualification at Level 1 or above, with evidence of Literacy and Numeracy abilities equivalent to NCEA Level 1; or
Evidence of relevant knowledge and experience, including Literacy and Numeracy abilities, equivalent to NCEA Level 1 (may require interview to verify evidence).
