This short Competency course is designed for EWRB registered electricians and related roles to renew their practicing license. The curriculum includes updates on safety regulations and standards, practical electrical safety tests, CPR, and supervision procedures. Unitec is an EWRB-approved provider of competence programmes, and completion involves passing theoretical and practical assessments to meet Board requirements.

  • Electricity (Safety) Regulations 2010 and amendments
  • Personal safety testing
  • Practical assessments to evidence 'levels of knowledge'
  • Earthing requirements (AS/NZS 3000:2007)
  • Installation, operation, and testing of RCDs
  • Prospective short circuit current levels
  • Testing, certification, and inspection
  • Technical updates/issues from EWRB Electron
  • CPR and basic first aid
  • Supervision procedures (Electricity Act 1992, sections 76 and 77)
