Develop comprehensive skills to inspect, troubleshoot, and repair a wide range of electrical and electronic faults in vehicles, including advanced diagnostic skills.

What You're Signing Up For
This course prepares you for a rewarding career as an automotive electrical engineer. As vehicles become more technologically advanced, the demand for fully qualified automotive electrical engineers increases. You'll learn to inspect, diagnose, and repair faults relating to transmission and the full range of electric and electronic components, such as sensors, actuators, wiring, control units, and more, in light and heavy vehicles. The programme is delivered via a managed apprenticeship, with hands-on, real-world experience and ongoing support from Toi Ohomai tutors. You will also have access to campus resources throughout your apprenticeship.

What you need to know first
Hold a Level 3 qualification in Automotive Engineering, or have evidence of equivalent skills and knowledge
Be employed in an automotive engineering workplace operating at a commercially acceptable industry standard
Your employer must sign a training agreement with you and Toi Ohomai
Admission in accordance with Toi Ohomai academic and/or specific programme regulations
For level 4: NCEA Level 2 with passes in English/Te Reo Māori or equivalent; or evidence of ability to complete academic and other requirements
