The Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCertEd) offers teachers, counsellors, and educational professionals a chance to develop their professional skills and critically evaluate major educational issues. The certificate also serves as a pathway to a postgraduate diploma or master's in education. It is not a teacher registration qualification.
What you need to know first
An appropriate bachelor’s degree in Aotearoa New Zealand with two 300-level courses in Education; OR an appropriate bachelor’s degree plus a minimum one-year teacher training course or relevant teaching/counselling experience; OR other equivalent qualifications.
If English is not your first language, you must meet University of Canterbury's English language requirements.
