The Doctor of Education (EdD) at AUT is a practice-led doctoral programme for educators seeking to create knowledge through hands-on professional, creative, and practice-based research. Students develop a research approach in tandem with a creative artefact or professional work, advancing equity, diversity, and ethical practice with a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi. The programme welcomes leaders, artists, practitioners, and educators from schools, communities, health, the arts, and public life. Coursework develops research and ethical competency, supporting the transition from practitioner to researcher. The degree is identical in standard to a PhD but is highly contextual and practice-oriented.

English language: IELTS (Academic) 6.5 overall with 7.0 in Writing and all other bands 6.0 or higher (or equivalent); waived if prior postgraduate study in English within last 3 years
