This programme supports learners with intellectual disabilities to build foundational skills for living and participating productively in Aotearoa society. Students develop self-management, social, and communication capabilities to enhance their independence and support future educational and employment opportunities. The course consists of practical learning in areas such as daily living, personal health, responsible citizenship, and workplace readiness.

What you need to know first

Attend an interview

Provide evidence of a learning disability (intellectual disability) from a psychological assessment, referral from a medical practitioner, needs assessment service, or educational provider

Must be aged 18 years or over at the programme start date

Demonstrate a level of communication in English or New Zealand Sign Language sufficient to participate

Basic literacy and numeracy assessment at interview
