What You're Signing Up For
The Master of Product Design at the University of Canterbury prepares students for innovation in dynamic markets by equipping them with advanced design, manufacturing, and business analysis skills. The programme offers practical and theoretical study, use of specialised on-campus facilities (including design studios, labs, workshops, 3D printers, and AR/VR spaces), and an original supervised research thesis. Students study the commercial lifecycle of products and may personalise the degree through electives, culminating in a specialist research project.

- Elective courses (choose two): PROD602 Systems Thinking for Product Design, PROD611 Design and Manufacture, PROD612 Bio-Inspired Design, PROD613 Development of Interdisciplinary Practice and Self, PROD621 Games for Health & Wellbeing, PROD622 Immersive Collaborative Play and Design, PROD623 Gamification for Enterprises, PROD631 Fragrance Design, PROD632 Special Topics in Cosmetic Product Formulation, or another approved 400-level course
- PROD690 Product Design Thesis (research thesis)

An appropriate design-related degree (e.g., Bachelor of Product Design) with a B Grade Point Average in your 300-level courses or equivalent qualification
