The Bachelor of Design responds to the evolving nature of design careers, with an emphasis on connections between design disciplines, mātauranga Māori, emerging technologies, and the ethical responsibilities of design professionals. The programme offers excellent facilities, industry connections, and opportunities to specialise through a major and add minors or a second major from within or outside design.
Course Content
- Core courses covering fundamental design principles and processes
- Integrated Design Practice (workplace experience project)
- Specialist major courses (choose from: Animation, Visual Effects and Game Design; Communication Design; Fashion Design; Industrial Design; Interaction Design; Spatial and Interior Design)
- Flexible component: choice of minors and/or second major from art & design or other AUT degrees
- Studio-based project work
- Opportunity to exhibit work at AUT Art & Design Festival
What you need to know first
University Entrance (NZ)
Equivalent overseas secondary school qualification
IELTS (Academic) 6.0 overall, with no band less than 5.5 or equivalent for international students
