Practical audio engineering

What You're Signing Up For
This full-time, one-year diploma is designed to equip students with practical and theoretical audio engineering skills suitable for commercial audio production. Areas covered include sound recording, mixing and mastering, live sound production, sound for film/TV and radio, spoken word production, DJing, audiology, and acoustic design. The course emphasizes hands-on experience with both digital and analogue technologies, audio and MIDI hardware/software, and creative applications in a variety of contexts.

What you need to know first
At least 18 years of age at programme start date
NCEA Level 2 with a minimum of 12 credits at Level 2 in each of four approved subjects
10 NCEA literacy credits at Level 2 or above (5 in reading, 5 in writing)
Completion of four years of secondary education
A recognised, relevant Level 4 qualification (for alternative entry)
Equivalent skills for tertiary study (for alternative entry, by assessment)
IELTS 5.5 Academic (no band lower than 5.0) or accepted equivalent, if English is not the first language
