What You're Signing Up For

UCOL's New Zealand Certificate in Construction Trades Supervision programme is designed for those already working as construction supervisors or aspiring to supervisory roles. Offered part-time over 36 weeks with blended delivery, the programme provides 70 credits covering areas essential to construction site supervision including communication, legislation, health & safety, people management, self-management, problem solving, ethical and sustainable practices. Learners can specialise in residential building, commercial construction, or construction-related trades and manufacturing. Domestic learners must be employed in construction with supervisory responsibilities, and hold relevant prior qualifications at Level 4 or equivalent. English language proficiency is required. This qualification enables graduates to undertake supervisory roles such as site foreman, team leader, and assistant project manager in residential and commercial construction sectors.

What you need to know first

Employed in the construction industry in a supervisory or supervisory-ready role

Qualification in carpentry at Level 4, OR Trade Certificate in building/construction trade, OR completed approved apprenticeship, OR equivalent knowledge and skills

Achievement of NCEA Level 2 or equivalent academic achievement

English language proficiency: IELTS Academic 5.5 overall, no band below 5 (or equivalent)
