What You're Signing Up For

The New Zealand Certificate in Building, Construction and Allied Trade Skills (Level 2) is designed to provide learners with basic skills and knowledge in various aspects of the construction trade. The programme covers building industry fundamentals, health and safety, construction planning including mathematics and timber knowledge, and practical construction project work. It offers a flexible approach with practical learning delivered in modern workshops by industry-experienced lecturers, enabling learners to progress toward trade-related occupations in building and allied trades.

Course Content

  • Introduction to Building and Construction (18 credits): safety, roles of trades, power tools, communication
  • Introduction to Construction Planning (14 credits): mathematical processes, sketching and drawing, timber types and handling
  • Construction Project (8 credits): identification and preparation of components, marking and constructing components, assembly and finishing to specifications
