What You're Signing Up For

The UCOL Academy 2 Day New Zealand Certificate in Infrastructure Works Level 2 programme is designed for secondary school learners to explore careers in infrastructure such as wastewater, stormwater, electricity and road networks. Over approximately a year, students complete 41 credits through a combination of theory and practical units covering workplace participation, time management, communication on site, health and safety, emergency response, use and maintenance of hand and small machinery tools, and safe work practices. Delivery occurs two days a week across multiple campuses with the aim to develop foundational skills for infrastructure construction and maintenance works.

  • Unit Standard 9677 (Level 2, 3 Credits): Participate in a team or group which has an objective.
  • Unit Standard 12349 (Level 2, 3 Credits): Demonstrate knowledge of time management.
  • Unit Standard 17327 (Level 2, 3 Credits): Apply communication skills on an infrastructure works site.
  • Unit Standard 6475 (Level 2, 2 Credits): Describe and complete work records for infrastructure works.
  • Unit Standard 26720 (Level 2, 3 Credits): Describe health, safety and environment care at an infrastructure works site.
  • Unit Standard 20868 (Level 2, 4 Credits): Demonstrate knowledge of emergency response in the civil infrastructure industry.
  • Unit Standard 23285 (Level 2, 2 Credits): Use and care for hand tools used for infrastructure works (practical).
  • Unit Standard 6469 (Level 2, 2 Credits): Maintain small machinery used on infrastructure works sites (practical).
  • Unit Standard 32138 (Level 2, 5 Credits): Demonstrate knowledge of good work habits and safe working practices on an infrastructure worksite.
  • Unit Standard 6472 (Level 2, 2 Credits): Carry out manual excavation on an infrastructure worksite.
  • Unit Standard 6477 (Level 2, 3 Credits): Demonstrate knowledge of aggregates and mixes used on an infrastructure worksite.
  • Unit Standard 32139 (Level 2, 5 Credits): Operate and care for small machinery used on an infrastructure worksite.
  • Unit Standard 17593 (Level 2, 4 Credits): Apply safe work practices in the workplace

Year 12 - 13 secondary school learner (NZ Citizens, permanent residents or applicable visa holders) aged 16 or over
