Produce furniture or joinery items
Students will produce their own furniture or joinery items using woodworking machinery and SIT facilities.
Safe operation of woodworking machines
Students will demonstrate safe practices when using woodworking machinery under supervision.
Workshop project planning and execution
Students will plan and carry out the manufacture of a selected product from raw materials to completion.
What You're Signing Up For
Produce your own furniture or joinery items using SIT equipment under qualified supervision. Materials are supplied by attendees. Entry requires prior completion of a woodworking machinery course or a furniture-making/joinery trade qualification. Night class held on campus in Invercargill.

- Safe and supervised use of woodworking machinery and related equipment
- Manufacture timber or wood-based products of your own choice
- Work planning and execution in a joinery workshop environment
- Guidance from qualified tradesperson/instructor

Completion of 'Woodwork Machinery for Beginners' course or equivalent trade background

Minimum 16 years of age
