The He Toki Carpentry Trades Training programme at Otago Polytechnic in Dunedin offers Māori and Pasifika students aged 16-40 a unique, culturally rich learning experience to gain the NZ Certificate in Construction Trade Skills (Level 3) in Carpentry. The full-time, one-year programme combines practical construction workshops, mentorship, te reo Māori, and tikaka with industry work-ready skills and workplace safety. Graduates are prepared to begin supervised carpentry apprenticeships or pursue further qualifications in construction.
