What You're Signing Up For

This programme provides students with foundational knowledge and hands-on skills in residential plumbing, gasfitting and drainlaying. Students will be taught by experienced practitioners and engage with industry through visits to plumbing businesses and suppliers. The course includes safety training, regulatory and ethical frameworks, and practical skills related to excavation, plumbing systems, and gasfitting safety. Successful completion equips students for apprenticeships and entry into the well-paid construction trades industry.

Course Content

  • Essential safety skills for plumbing, gasfitting and drainlaying (18 credits)
  • Patterns, tools, regulatory and ethical considerations (14 credits)
  • Introduction to drainlaying, excavation and trenching (11 credits)
  • Introduction to plumbing: water basics, supply pipework, sanitary systems (23 credits)
  • Introduction to gasfitting: trade science, safety requirements (4 credits)
