What You're Signing Up For

This pre-trade course provides an introduction to marine and composites trades through practical, workshop-based training. It covers three strands: Boatbuilding, where students learn tools and techniques for working with timber and alloy materials; Composite Technologies, focused on resin blending and applications in marine and industrial contexts; and Marine Systems, covering assembly, testing, diagnostics and maintenance of engine components. The course includes opportunities for industry engagement and prepares students for apprenticeships in marine and composite trades. Limited class sizes ensure hands-on experience and individual support. Delivered through a blend of practical workshops and online theory via the MAST Learning Portal, this Level 3 course runs from February to July 2026 at the MAST Campus in Auckland. Entry requirements include legal residency in New Zealand, minimum age 16, and English proficiency.
