What You're Signing Up For

The NZ Certificate in Plumbing, Gasfitting and Drainlaying (Level 3) prepares learners for entry into the plumbing, gasfitting and drainlaying trades. The 24-week programme provides comprehensive practical and theoretical training in hand tools, installation, maintenance, gas systems, water supply, and roof plumbing. Graduates will be equipped for apprenticeship opportunities in multiple construction trades.

  • Introduction to health and safety
  • Sanitary (foul water) systems
  • Hot and cold water supply systems
  • Sanitary appliance, fixture and valve installation and maintenance
  • Sheet metal work
  • Roof plumbing
  • Welding and brazing
  • Gas and combustion theory and practice, including heating and ventilating
  • Gas pipes, appliances and devices
  • Building, construction and service integration

What you need to know first

NCEA Level 1 Literacy and Numeracy or equivalent

OR successful completion of the NZ Certificate in Foundation Studies (Allied Trades) Level 2 and entry test

OR interview and successful completion of entry test

Physical mobility required for construction site work
