What You're Signing Up For
The Academy ICT Innovation (Level 3) programme at UCOL is designed for secondary school students interested in exploring a future in information technology. Delivered weekly, it provides a hands-on, project-based approach in UCOL computer labs. Students engage in creating software solutions, learning about microcontrollers, working with digital media and multimedia presentations, and constructing websites. The programme also develops communication and collaboration skills in digital environments. Upon completion, students are well-equipped for further IT study or entry-level support roles.
Course Content
- Formulate a design specification, write, test and modify program solutions
- Create simple end-user documentation
- Capture and prepare digital media (images, audio, video) for applications
- Produce interactive multimedia presentations using presentation software
- Develop, test, and evaluate interactive websites for organisational use
- Collaborate and communicate effectively and safely in digital environments
- Basic robotics programming using microcontrollers
What you need to know first
Year 11 to 13 secondary school student
NZ Citizen, permanent resident, or visa allowing secondary school enrollment
Recommended: Maths, Computing and Digital Studies, Information Systems, English
