Course Content

  • ITC501 Information Technology Operations: concepts of computer hardware, operating systems, applications and networks
  • ITC502 Fundamentals of Programming and Problem Solving: software development principles to create simple programs
  • ITC514 Fundamentals of Project Management: project planning, project management software, professional and ethical IT practice, communication skills
  • ITC515 Fundamentals of Information System Development: systems development for organisational solutions, user interface design

What you need to know first

NCEA Level 2 with 60 credits at Level 2 or above (preferably including English, Mathematics, Science) plus 20 credits from any level. Minimum 10 credits in NCEA Level 1 literacy and 10 credits in numeracy.

OR Successful completion of New Zealand Certificate in Information Technology Essentials (Level 4) or equivalent.

Mature applicants (20+) require Level 4 NZ Certificate in IT Essentials or equivalent knowledge/experience.
