Core skills this course teaches

Develop file management skills
Students will learn to rename, organize, and efficiently manage files and folders using standard computer operating systems.

Gain confidence in email use
Students will understand fundamental email tasks, including handling attachments, converting files to PDFs for email, and adopting everyday email best practices.

Master Word processing basics
Students will be able to use Microsoft Word for document setup, formatting, applying styles, managing spelling and grammar, and using advanced features like tables, images, and print settings.

Course Content
- File Management: renaming, organizing files and folders, using folder views
- Email basics: attachments, saving PDFs, email best practices
- Microsoft Word: document setup, shortcuts, organization, spelling & grammar tools, formatting, adding Māori words, heading styles, use of tables/pictures/headers/footers, search and replace, print options
- Smart internet tools and efficiency tips
- Intro to Excel and Spreadsheets: data entry/editing, formatting, formulas (AutoSum, AVERAGE, MAX), cell formatting, AutoFill, charts, absolute cell references, page layout, print options
