What You're Signing Up For
The New Zealand Diploma in Web Development and Design (Level 5) offered by Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology provides 120 credits over 34 teaching weeks plus 6 weeks study break. It combines IT support fundamentals with software and web development skills, focusing on website, systems, and interface design. Students learn web systems analysis and testing, user interface design, and web framework customization. Graduates can start careers in entry-level web development or continue to the second year of a Bachelor of Information Technology. The program includes practical projects, industry input, and pathways for diverse student backgrounds.
Course Content
- Certificate in Information Technology Technical Support courses (first six months)
- Application Testing: client requirements, test plan creation, environment implementation, technical documentation
- Introduction to Systems Analysis and Design: SDLC principles, systems analysis, design documentation, software standards
- Internet Design Principles: Internet components, web page and website design principles, multimedia for web
- Framework Customisation: framework selection, website design, content separation, hosting and domain management, content types and entities
What you need to know first
NCEA Level 2 or equivalent academic qualification
English proficiency: IELTS 5.5 Academic (no lower than 5.0 in any subtest), or alternatives as per NZQA standards
Computer and internet access: recent model computer and fast internet connection
