What You're Signing Up For

The New Zealand Diploma in Engineering (Civil) is a practical, industry-aligned programme providing students with technical skills in civil engineering areas such as geotechnical, hydraulics, transportation, surveying, and structural engineering. Graduates develop risk management, teamwork, applied maths, and physics skills, ready to work in the engineering industry or progress to further study. The qualification is recognised under the Dublin Accord, supporting international and local employability.

What you need to know first

Under 20: NCEA Level 2 and a minimum of 48 credits at level 2 in four subjects including at least 12 credits in mathematics (preferably achievement standards in algebra, calculus, or trigonometry), or equivalent.

10 literacy credits at level 1 or higher (for those who achieved NCEA Level 2 before 2013).

Equivalent qualifications such as International Baccalaureate or Cambridge, or appropriate trades training/demonstrated skills and experience.

20+: Possible special admission on application if you do not meet Under 20 criteria.

Special entry may be granted at discretion of Head of School.
