What You're Signing Up For
Explore all areas of civil engineering, such as materials, geotech, structures, geology, surveying, hydraulics, and mathematics. This diploma equips graduates with the knowledge and abilities of an engineering technician. Students will learn to apply technical theory in practical situations and safely collaborate with clients, contractors, and authorities in a range of infrastructure settings. Graduates are prepared for roles involving the design, supervision, and construction of roads, buildings, dams, bridges, and more, with international recognition under the Dublin Accord.

What you need to know first
Be at least 16 years old at programme commencement.
Be able to read, write, and communicate in English at a basic level.
Be physically able to complete programme-specific outcomes.
Achieve NCEA Level 2 with at least 48 credits at level 2 in four subjects (including at least 12 credits in mathematics, preferably in algebra, calculus, or trigonometry), or equivalent qualification (e.g. International Baccalaureate, Cambridge).
Equivalent credits from appropriate trades training and/or demonstrated skills and experience, including at least 10 literacy credits at level 1 or higher (if NCEA Level 2 before 2013).
For non-native English speakers: minimum IELTS score of 6.0 (academic), with no band lower than 5.5, or an accepted international equivalent.
