The UCOL New Zealand Diploma in Business (Level 5) prepares you for operational roles in New Zealand business settings, contributing to strategic objectives and developing analytical skills. With strands in Accounting or Leadership and Management, the diploma covers core business functions, change and innovation, and prepares graduates for a variety of roles or further study. Industry support and real-world problem solving are key aspects of the programme.

  • Organisations in an Aotearoa New Zealand Context
  • Business Environments (SWOT, PESTEL, sustainability, risk)
  • Business Functions (Operations, HR, Marketing, Sales, Accounting)
  • Change and Innovation (change management, innovation frameworks, stakeholder engagement)
  • Accounting Focus: Introduction to Accounting and Taxation, Applied Accounting, Analysis of Financial Information
  • Leadership and Management Focus: Budgets for Planning and Control, Introduction to Leadership, Operations Management and Compliance, Business Planning, Managing Projects

What you need to know first

At least 16 years of age at programme commencement or completed Early Release Exemption form

Achievement of NCEA Level 2 including 8 Literacy credits at Level 2 or above, and 14 Numeracy credits at Level 1 or above, or equivalent

Successful completion of an approved qualification at Level 3 or above with a relevant pathway

Discretionary admission may be granted based on likelihood of success at the discretion of the Relevant Academic Authority

Evidence of language literacy proficiency as required by NZQA rules
