What You're Signing Up For
The New Zealand Certificate in Business (First Line Management) (Level 4) is designed for those aiming to lead teams and achieve workplace objectives. The programme develops key technical, interpersonal, and leadership skills needed for first line management roles, including management of workflows, problem solving, motivation, communication, and inclusive practices. Delivered via SIT2LRN distance learning, it provides practical experience, requiring workplace access for assessments. Graduates are prepared for first line supervisory and management roles in various organizational contexts.
Course Content
- Business Environment: Developing knowledge to resolve factors impacting business and promoting workplace relationships.
- Team Leadership: Understanding and applying leadership styles, communication, and behavioural management.
- Managing Teams: Motivating teams, managing workflow, achieving team objectives.
- Setting and Meeting Objectives: Managing workflow, addressing performance and resource allocation, staff management.
What you need to know first
40 credits at NCEA Level 1, including 10 Literacy credits and 10 Numeracy credits, or a recognised equivalent.
New Zealand Certificate in Business (Administration and Technology) (Level 3), or New Zealand Certificate in Business (Introduction to Team Leadership) (Level 3), or New Zealand Certificate in Business (Introduction to Small Business) (Level 3), or relevant qualification at NZQF Level 2 or above.
Special admission for applicants aged 20+ without standard entry, or discretionary admission for those under 20 who do not meet entry requirements.
All applicants whose first language is not English or te reo Māori must meet English language requirements (IELTS 5.5 with no band less than 5 or NZQA recognised equivalent).
Applicants must have access to a workplace environment for assessments.
All students need computer and internet access.
