What You're Signing Up For

The Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Management at NMIT is a Level 8, 120-credit programme delivered over two semesters (approx. 10 months full time), designed to develop advanced management, leadership, and applied analytical skills. Learners choose from specialist majors (Healthcare, Logistics & Supply Chain, Business Analytics, Aquaculture, or Multidisciplinary), with curriculum blending theoretical knowledge, hands-on practical activities, and applied research. The qualification prepares graduates for leadership roles across diverse sectors, and provides pathways into the Master of Applied Management.

  • MGT802 Design Thinking and Innovative Entrepreneurship
  • MGT803 Managing in a Digital World
  • MGT804 Leadership and Managing Talent
  • Electives: Choose from advanced courses in storage & warehousing, procurement, logistics, healthcare systems, analytics, aquaculture, agile management, stakeholder engagement, work-based project, and advanced/research methods
  • Major-specific research project (where applicable)
  • Compulsory research methods course (for some majors)
  • Small-scale management research or course-based capstone

What you need to know first

Bachelor’s degree OR

Relevant skills and knowledge acquired through appropriate work or professional experience

English language: IELTS 6.5 Academic (no lower than 6.0 in each band) or NZQA-approved equivalent (for non-native speakers)

Applicants without formal academic requirements may be approved for alternative entry through assessment

For Business Analytics: additional entry based on relevant degree and/or evidence of work in analytics, mathematics, or related field
