What You're Signing Up For
This one-year full-time diploma provides students with advanced skills in beauty therapy including spa and massage, advanced skin care, hair removal, electrical facial and body therapy, as well as practical experience in beauty clinics. Students develop client consultation, critical analysis of client needs, business management skills, and professionalism to prepare for a career as a beauty therapist or related roles. The qualification consists of 120 credits and builds on the New Zealand Certificate in Beauty Therapy.
Course Content
- Beauty Therapy Science (15 credits) - anatomy, physiology, science and nutrition for beauty therapy
- Spa and Massage Therapy (20 credits) with 25 practicum hours
- Advanced Skin Care (15 credits) with 10 practicum hours
- Advanced Hair Removal (25 credits) with 35 practicum hours
- Electrical Facial Therapy (15 credits) with 10 practicum hours
- Electrical Body Therapy (15 credits) with 10 practicum hours
- Applied Beauty Therapy Practice (Clinic) (15 credits) with 40 practicum hours
What you need to know first
New Zealand Certificate in Beauty Therapy Level 4 or equivalent skills and knowledge
For international students: IELTS Academic score of 5.5 with no band below 5 or equivalent; NCEA equivalency if under 20 years old
