What You're Signing Up For

This programme provides learners with prior hairstyling and basic cutting skills the opportunity to become professional hairstylists. Students gain knowledge, skills, and attributes to provide integrated fashion hairdressing services, including client consultation, diagnosis, care, cutting, styling, colouring, colour correction, and chemical reformation. The course includes practical salon experience at UCOL's training salon, Te Whare Makawe, to meet client requirements professionally and safely.

  • Professional Stylist Attributes (10 credits) - understanding personal/professional development and communication in hairdressing industry
  • Sculpture (20 credits) - performing foundation scissor cuts, razor, and clipper services
  • The Art of Advanced Hair Design (15 credits) - wet and dry advanced styling techniques
  • Reformeration Designs (15 credits) - chemical reformation services on diverse hair types
  • Advanced Colour Design (20 credits) - advanced colour and decolouring techniques
  • Fashion Colour and Sculpture (15 credits) - fashion cutting and colouring techniques
  • Advanced Client Journey (15 credits) - working in professional hairdressing context
  • Advanced Grand Finale (10 credits) - presenting avant-garde styles to professional standards
