What You're Signing Up For
UCOL's New Zealand Certificate in Beauty Therapy (Level 4) provides foundational training for those beginning a career in beauty therapy. Learners develop practical skills in facials, waxing, nail treatments, make up, eye treatments, body tanning, and operate in a real beauty clinic setting, gaining confidence, technical know-how and industry experience. No prior experience in beauty is required. Graduates will be ready for employment as beauty therapists or to further specialise with a diploma.

- Professional Practice (ethics, health and hygiene, business basics)
- Anatomy and Physiology for Beauty Therapy
- Nail Services (manicure, pedicure, nail analysis)
- Facial Treatments (skin analysis, facials using a range of products and techniques)
- Make Up Services (industry trends, application skills, colour therapies)
- Eye Works and Tanning (eyebrow/eyelash enhancement, tanning techniques)
- Waxing Services (manual hair removal, waxing techniques)
- Beauty Therapy Clinic (work experience in a supervised beauty salon)
What you need to know first
NCEA Level 2 or equivalent academic achievement
Entry at the discretion of the Executive Dean on a case-by-case basis
