This programme covers classic and modern barbering techniques, including wet shaves, scissor skills, small hair detail, clipper work, and fades. Students will learn about barbering culture, operational requirements, client interaction, front-of-house service, and self-marketing through social media. Graduates are prepared for work as independent barbers in various commercial contexts.

What you need to know first
Be at least 16 years old at the time the programme commences.
Be able to read, write, and communicate in English at a basic level.
Be physically able to complete the programme-specific outcomes.
40 credits at NCEA Level 1, including 10 Literacy credits and 10 Numeracy credits; or a recognised equivalent.
OR a relevant qualification at NZQF Level 2 or above; or a recognised equivalent.
Special and Discretionary Admission is also available.
