What You're Signing Up For
The New Zealand Diploma in Interior Design (Residential) prepares students for roles as interior design consultants or assistants in the residential sector. The programme covers foundational design principles, technical drawing, communication, interior technology, design history, studio application, materials and sustainability, and professional practice including work placements. Graduates are ready for work in the residential interior design industry or further study for commercial design. The course has a strong industry focus with internships, client projects, guest speakers, and visits to trade suppliers.

What you need to know first
A minimum of 48 NCEA credits at Level 2 or higher and a minimum of 10 credits in NCEA mathematics including measurement and number (excluding statistics); or
A relevant qualification at NZQF Level 3 or above; or
Attained the age of 20 years on or before the first day of the semester with appropriate work or life experience.
English language proficiency as outlined in NZQA Rules or on Unitec website.
International students: at least 16 years of age, meet country-specific requirement or equivalent, and English proficiency (e.g., IELTS Academic 5.5 overall, no band less than 5.0).
