This two-year, full-time diploma prepares graduates for work in the architecture and construction industry as architectural technicians. The programme covers knowledge and skills required for planning, designing, documenting, and evaluating building projects—enabling graduates to work on small and medium scale projects of limited complexity through all stages to completion. Includes manual and digital drawing, construction technology, legislation, materials science, and feasibility studies.

What you need to know first

NCEA with a minimum of 50 credits at Level 2 including 12 Mathematics credits and a minimum of 12 Literacy credits

NZ Trade Certificate in Carpentry, or National Certificate in Carpentry

Demonstrate equivalent knowledge and skills

Mature applicants: Over 20 and can demonstrate ability to succeed in the programme

English language proficiency as per NZQF rules (e.g., IELTS Academic 6.0 overall with no band below 5.5, or equivalent as listed in entry requirements)
