This Level 4 fully online course is designed for individuals currently working or seeking to work in the reprocessing of reusable medical devices, including roles in medical, dental, and veterinary services. Students will study best practices in sterilisation, regulatory and standards compliance, and undertake a compulsory supervised workplace experience to apply practical skills. Successful completion leads to the New Zealand Certificate in Sterilising Technology (Level 4) and is a pathway to further study in sterilising technology.

What you need to know first

NCEA Level 2 with passes in English/Te Reo Māori or equivalent academic achievement

Completion of New Zealand Certificate in Sterilising Technology (Level 3)

At least 6 months of employment in a sterilisation services environment

Any Level 3 or higher NZQA qualification over 60 credits or evidence of ability to succeed at Level 4

Access to a workplace for minimum 64 supervised work experience hours

Sufficient internet access for online learning
