What You're Signing Up For
The New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 4) (Disability Support) is designed to equip learners with the skills and knowledge required to deliver person-centered care to individuals with complex needs, particularly in disability settings. The programme includes contemporary health care topics, practical modules, leadership, professionalism, and strategies for enhancing the quality of life for people with disabilities. Graduates are prepared for employment in the disability support sector and have clear pathways to further study.
Course Content
- Module 1: Engagement and communication with whānau
- Module 2: Health Care System and Contemporary Priorities in Aotearoa, New Zealand
- Module 3: Leadership, reflective practice, and self-care in a health or wellbeing setting
- Module 4: Professionalism, safety and service quality in healthcare
- Module 5: Aims and purposes of service philosophies and implications in healthcare
- Module 6: Principles and support strategies applied in a disability setting
- Module 7: Knowledge for practice in a disability setting
What you need to know first
New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 3) or equivalent
Interview process and acceptance at the discretion of the interviewer
Police checks
Two character references (not family or friends)
Checks against Children’s Act 2014
Further restrictions may apply under Tertiary Education Commission Contract
Access to a computer and internet for distance/blended learning
Minimum age: 16 years
