What You're Signing Up For
This apprenticeship supports experienced staff in primary care to develop the practical and theoretical skills required to assist with clinical and administrative tasks in healthcare settings. Apprentices are supported through on-job learning and online resources, gaining competencies in working with patients, supporting healthcare teams, and implementing quality and administrative systems within primary care. Apprentices are coached and assessed in real work situations to ensure practical capability.

- Engaging and communicating with patients and their families/whānau
- Understanding and applying kawa and tikanga in the healthcare context
- Contributing to professionalism, safety, and quality in a primary care practice
- Understanding New Zealand health and wellbeing goals as they apply to service delivery
- Supporting people, families, whānau, and healthcare teams in primary care
- Supporting administration and quality systems in primary care
- Developing in-depth knowledge of specific conditions or issues
- Performing routine clinical tasks under the direction of health professionals
- Self-directed on-job and online (Aka Toi) learning
- Reflective practice and critical thinking

Currently employed in a primary care practice or similar healthcare organisation
Support from employer to enrol in the programme
Experienced staff with existing technical skills and knowledge in health and wellbeing
