Develop skills for physiotherapist registration
Graduates will be prepared to apply for registration as a physiotherapist with the Physiotherapy Board of New Zealand.

Clinical reasoning and patient management
Develop advanced clinical reasoning skills and ability to assess and manage a wide range of patient presentations and contexts using evidence-based physiotherapy approaches.

Professional and ethical practice
Demonstrate understanding of reflective, professional, and ethical practice within physiotherapy, including communication and interprofessional teamwork.
What You're Signing Up For
The Master of Physiotherapy Practice at AUT is a two-year, full-time, graduate-entry programme for students with a relevant undergraduate degree who want to become registered physiotherapists. The curriculum focuses on real-life problems, case scenarios, role plays, and simulations, with clinical placements embedded throughout. Students develop clinical reasoning, assessment and management techniques, and research skills, preparing them for a career as a physiotherapist. Successful graduates are eligible to apply for registration with the Physiotherapy Board of New Zealand.

- Physiotherapy across the care continuum
- Contemporary physiotherapy practice
- Physiotherapy research project
- Elective in related health subject (Level 8)
What you need to know first
Relevant bachelor’s degree with B+ grade average (GPA 6) or higher at level 7 or equivalent (e.g. health sciences, exercise science, physiology, kinesiology, medical/biomedical sciences)
Capability to meet Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act (including police clearance)
Current immunisations per School of Clinical Sciences schedule
Ability to travel to clinical placements
May require selection interview
Admission subject to programme leader approval
