What You're Signing Up For
The Turbine Engines Training Scheme is a Level 6 stand-alone programme offered by NMIT. It prepares students, primarily aircraft maintenance engineers, to gain knowledge and skills necessary to maintain turbine engines and pass NZCAA licensing exams. The course covers turbine engine operation, design, various systems (ignition, fuel, lubrication, cooling, instruments, power augmentation, control). It is delivered fully online over 56 weeks with approx. 23 hours per week of self-directed study, allowing students to study flexibly while working full-time. Successful completion includes NZQA Unit Standard 20901. Entry requires prior aircraft maintenance training or equivalent experience. Additional costs include CAA exam fees. Graduates pursue roles as licensed aircraft maintenance engineers (LAME) in New Zealand and overseas, performing maintenance, supervision, and certification duties.

What you need to know first
Completed recognised aircraft maintenance engineering training at Level 4 or above, OR
Equivalent recognised international qualification, OR
Relevant aeronautical engineering industry or allied trade experience.
English language proficiency IELTS 6.0 Academic (no lower than 5.5 in any subtest) or equivalent
