Develop knowledge of rotorcraft systems
Demonstrate a clear understanding of fundamental and advanced aspects of rotorcraft design and systems for maintenance engineering purposes.

Apply theory of flight to rotorcraft
Explain and analyse the principles of flight with particular reference to rotorcraft operation and maintenance.

Maintain and service rotorcraft systems
Demonstrate safe and effective maintenance practices on key rotorcraft systems, including flight controls, hydraulics, powertrains, and fuel systems.
What You're Signing Up For
The Rotorcraft Training Scheme is designed for aircraft maintenance engineers who wish to expand their understanding and skills in rotorcraft systems. The course is delivered online and allows learners to study independently while in full-time employment, supporting progress toward New Zealand Civil Aviation Authority (NZCAA) licensing. Students will cover comprehensive topics from rotorcraft systems to servicing, with successful completion leading to NZQA Unit Standard 20899 after passing the AMEL Rotorcraft Exam 6. This scheme is flexible for industry professionals seeking to gain credits or cross-credit toward a diploma in aeronautical engineering maintenance.

What you need to know first
Completed recognised aircraft maintenance engineering training (at Level 4 or above), OR an equivalent recognised international qualification, OR relevant experience in the aeronautical engineering industry or allied trade.
Access to a workplace or ability to provide workplace experience evidence in accordance with CAA AC66-1 subpart 66.53(a)(4).
Living in New Zealand to take online licence theory exams.
Computer literacy.
IELTS 6.0 Academic (no lower than 5.5 in any subtest) for non-native English speakers, or meeting NCEA Level 3 University Entrance.
