The Avionics 1 Training Scheme is a standalone, flexible, online course designed for those working as aircraft maintenance engineers. It equips students with knowledge and skills in maintaining electrical, communication, navigation equipment, and instruments specific to aircraft. The programme is suitable for those looking to complete Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) examinations required for licensing and allows continued full-time employment alongside study.

What you need to know first

Recognised aircraft maintenance engineering training at Level 4 or above, or equivalent international qualification, or relevant industry experience.

Access to a workplace or evidence of workplace experience per CAA AC66-1 subpart 66.53(a)(4).

Living in New Zealand to take the online licence theory exams.

IELTS 6.0 Academic (no lower than 5.5 in any subtest), or equivalent for non-native English speakers.

Competency in computer literacy (file management, email, word processing, internet).
