The Aircraft Materials Training Scheme is designed for current or aspiring aircraft maintenance engineers, providing the knowledge needed to maintain and certify aeronautical electrical components. Students study metallurgy principles, corrosion, defect analysis, and more to prepare for CAA licensing exams. The course is online, flexible, and can be completed while in full-time employment, over 56 weeks, with approximately 23 hours per week of self-directed learning. Successful completion awards NZQA Unit Standard 20896 and prepares students for the AMEL Aeronautical Engineering Knowledge Exam 3.

What you need to know first
Completed recognised aircraft maintenance engineering training (at Level 4 or above), OR equivalent international qualification, OR relevant experience in aeronautical engineering industry or allied trade
Computer literacy (competent use of file management, email, internet, word processing)
Access to a workplace or evidence of relevant workplace experience per CAA AC66-1 subpart 66.53(a)(4)
Living in New Zealand to sit the online licence theory exams
English: IELTS 6.0 Academic (no lower than 5.5 in any subtest), or NCEA Level 3 UE, or equivalent
