The Aeroplanes 1 Training Scheme supports aspiring and working aircraft maintenance engineers in building a comprehensive understanding of aircraft systems, aerodynamics, and maintenance requirements according to NZCAA standards. The course is entirely online and self-paced over 56 weeks, allowing students to study alongside full-time employment. Completion helps fulfil prerequisites for the NZCAA Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer examinations and credits towards a diploma can be cross-credited. Graduates are equipped to supervise and certify aircraft maintenance operations within airlines, maintenance companies, and the wider aviation sector.

What you need to know first
Completed recognised aircraft maintenance engineering training (NZQA Level 4 or above) OR equivalent international qualification OR relevant experience in aeronautical engineering industry or allied trade.
If academic requirements not evidenced, alternative entry based on relevant skills and experience subject to approval.
If English is not first language: IELTS 6.0 Academic (no lower than 5.5 in any subtest) or acceptable alternative as per NZQA.
Must have access to a workplace or be able to supply workplace experience evidence as per CAA AC66-1 subpart 66.53(a)(4).
Must be living in New Zealand to sit the external online licence theory exams.
Computer literacy is required.
